Whew!

Steve and I signed up to give blood this past week...

I have never given blood before...

Other than doctors taking blood because they WANT to, I have never given blood for the fun of it. Or just to be charitable. But Steve was going, so he talked/guilted me into signing up with him. The thought of which terrifies me. I've heard some pretty bad horror stories about people giving blood. Including people passing out, throwing up, and having blood squirt out. And up until now, I would say, "NO THANKS!"

However, this time I thought that I would face up to my fears and just do it. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad, and I would find that it was no big deal. Afterall, if Melissa could do it weekly when she had her blood problem, I could do it just this once.

Let's just say thank goodness I got somewhat sick, and they didn't want me. So, I can now say I tried and was sent away. Missed it by that much!

That was a close one. hahaha I am always grateful that I have a good excuse for not giving blood. (With my blood problems they don't want me) So I never have to feel guilty but I am always grateful. If I was healthy I don't think I would give either. (woops! Is that uncharitable?)

It's really not bad at all! I just like to make it sound dramatic. Give it a shot next time! You'll be glad you did!

It's been years since I gave blood. I would've done it if I'd been in town.
I heard about the bookclub drama on your comments, but then you took the post down before i could read it, dangit!

Ugh... I just sent a comment and it gave me an error message afterwards so I don't know if it went through or not.

The first time I tried, they tried for 45 mins to get it and I came out with bruises up and down my arm with a stupid sticker that said "I tried." The next time I tried I had traveled into part of Mexico that made it so they didn't want my blood... and then they said I would be ineligible for 5 yrs... I haven't tried since.

I guess I'm partly to blame for your fears. David and Andy are the other parts to blame. The three of us went together to be "charitable". My blood ended up on the floor, Andy had to blow into a bag to keep from passing out, and David turned white at the site of us. They wouldn't let any of us drive home. We were there what seemed like forever and never did give them any blood to actually use.
