The junk is gone

That's right, it has taken me a month, but I have officially 'de-junked' my house. I went through all of the kids' clothes, their closets, their toys, you name it, I went through it. And it is gone. I took a bunch to the DI the other day and I have to tell you, it is a good feeling. The funny thing is the kids now have like half of the toys (I did put some of them in the storage room to hold onto for when Jayden gets older) and they don't seem to care. We cut the Barbies down in half, and Jenna has still been playing with them everyday. Only now, when it is time for her to clean them up, she doesn't whine so much.

So, even with all that, doing the dishes and laundry still sucks. Wouldn't it be nice if we could toss out like half of the dishes and clothes that we have? Only that wouldn't work out so well because then I would have to do MORE laundry so that the clothes they do have were always clean. And, then I would be doing dishes by hand all the time so that we have something to eat on.

The one thing that amazed me most dejunking the house, was how much trash piles up in the most bizarre spots all around the house. Every place I cleaned had a least one kitchen sized trash bag full of complete trash. Like why do my kids keep the tags off of their clothes? I cut them off, and usually toss them in the trash, but it was unbelievable how many I found in all of the kids closets. And I think that we need to have the kids toss their church pictures right in the garbage before they get in the house. That was the other thing that amazed me - how many pictures and stuff they had from church just put on a shelf in their closets. I wouldn't dare say we shouldn't have the kids do those things because giving the kids a paper and some crayons makes teaching primary bearable.

My final question though is where do all of the barbie and polly pocket shoes go? We only had matches for only half of the shoes that we have owned. You would have thought that after moving all of the couches to vacuum under them and vacuuming under the cushions in the couch, that we would have found a least some stray shoes, but nope, not one. So, where do they go? Occasionally I find Jayden with one in his mouth, so did he swallow them? I don't remember seeing any in his diapers. So that is the question of the century. I'm just sayin'.

I LOVE cleaning stuff out. Actually let me rephrase that. I love when things get cleaned out. I don't actually enjoy doing it, but it's soo nice when it's done. Recently, I totally cleaned out the kids toy room, and found a TON of polly pocket and Barbie shoes at the bottom of the toy box. So, I gave the girls a special bag, just for their Barbie clothes/shoes. We'll see if they can keep that up.
Makes me wonder why I keep buying them those things.

I've been cleaning too. I still have a few days worth of stuff to go. And, I'll admit, we have BAGS and BAGS of trash, and one bag of DI. The toys we got rid of were broken and not worth DIing.

Oh, I'm jealous. I need to start getting rid of, donating, and organizing. I keep threatening to just donate a stack of un-opened boxes from our move. I don't know what's in them, and I obviously don't miss whatever is them...we'll see. I am so tempted to get rid of a lot of our stuff. The thought of packing it all up and moving it three times in the next year is not appealing.
